Method

1. 1Step : Peel the potatoes and slice them into 1 to 2mm rounds. Raw.
2. 2Step : In a large pot, add all the slices, then add milk and cream to cover, using a ratio of 70% milk to 30% cream to submerge all the potato slices.
3. 3Step : Season everything with salt, pepper, grated nutmeg, thyme, and bay leaf.
4. 4Step : Bring to a gentle simmer for 15-20 minutes until they become tender, but not breaking apart too easily. Remove the thyme and bay leaf halfway through cooking.
5. 5Step : Arrange the potatoes in a suitable baking dish, then pour over the milk-cream mixture just to cover. Top with a little grated Emmental cheese.
6. 6Step : Bake in the oven at 180°C for 40 to 50 minutes
7. 7Step : Enjoy!
